How to Make a Bequest to the Inova Health System Foundation

There are many areas of need throughout the Inova Health System and we would be happy to discuss them with you. If you already know what program or facility you would like to provide a bequest for, please consult with and ask your attorney to include a paragraph similar to the following in your will or trust:

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Inova Health System Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation located in Northern Virginia, the (state fraction or percentage of the rest, residue and remainder) of my estate, both real and personal. I also direct that this bequest be used for the area of greatest need.

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Inova Health System Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation located in Northern Virginia, the sum of ___________ to be used for the benefit of ____________ hospital and it’s _______________ program.

- or -

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Inova Health System Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation located in Northern Virginia, (whatever amount or percentage you desire). I also direct that this bequest be used to benefit ____________ hospital.

Consider naming the Foundation as a contingent beneficiary to receive a gift in the event that another heir predeceases you.

Legacy of Life

Individuals who have designated any Inova Health System program or facility as a beneficiary of their estate, either through a will, trust or other deferred charitable gift arrangement, are named as a member of Inova’s Legacy of Life.

Gifts that qualify for Legacy of Life recognition include:

• bequests from your will or trust
• Inova Gift Annuity
• Beneficiary of retirement plan, IRAs, pension plan
• charitable remainder trust
• real estate or life estate
• beneficiary of life insurance
• bank account designation

We recognize our Legacy of Life donors:

• We host Legacy of Life events at the hospitals their gift supports to provide updates and the chance to meet hospital administrators and key staff members
• By adding their name to display boards at the hospital or program their gift supports
• Including their names in appropriate Inova publications
